First of all, I forgot to mention in the previous post that at the time of writing, we still had no assistant manager or a coach. Somehow, we have an under-20s manager instead.
We were able to bring in a coach through the adverts but basically, no one wanted to be my assistant manager unless they were paid around twice the maximum wage we could offer.
Due to the lack of quality in the transfer market, all three signings were there just to make numbers essentially.
All friendlies are with lower division teams. Started off with a narrow loss against Tavua, before drawing against Bua. We won the last two friendlies pretty comfortably though.
It is supposed to be a 4-4-2 counter but since our only left winger was injured, this would have been an alternative: a 4-3-3 counter instead. This is to make use of the squad’s strength in work rate.
Oceania Champions League
Finally, the preliminary stage of the competition was completed and we finally found out who we were going to play against in the group stages.
One of the harder groups in my opinion, since we are up against one of the big boys, Team Wellington from New Zealand. The rest are relative unknowns to me, so it’ll be an interesting group.
Apparently, after our first league match against Lautoka, we have another one month gap before our OCL matches begin. So, another round of friendlies will ensue!
In the next post, I will review our performance in all competitions!
The database I used for this save is the FM17 Megapack 170 Updates by claassen . It does have more nations to choose from than the version that I have for this save.
