#FM17 Around the World Challenge #20- Squad Overhaul in the Deserts

Once again, every club has to go through the first phase of the season – the preseason. The time where the players get back up to speed in terms of fitness and the manager finds new players and tries to figure out the right tactic to make them work with the rest of the squad.

From the last post, I had talked about a football player from my country, Chong Ru Yu. He had been playing for my previous team, Akritas but only managed a handful of appearances. So, what’s next for him after Cyprus? I signed him.

Indeed, he will playing for the 2nd team in the Q-League this season. Let’s just hope our new 2nd team manager plays him as much as I hope for.

Anyway, here’s the overview of our transfer activity, albeit 9 days before the end of the transfer window.

Decent left-back since we were lacking players in that department; to me, he’s good enough to keep us up.fm_2017-02-16_20-37-13

Signing of the transfer window, but only because I sold Ragoubi for the active relegation clause of 210 thousand British pounds. (see the outs in the next section). Very quick central midfielder that can play as a defensive midfielder, left winger and even an attacking midfielder.

This guy was just signed as a replacement as Hassan (see the outs in the next section), but I did not think he is as good as Hassan.fm_2017-02-16_20-37-37

This player was recommended by my chief scout a few days before the transfer window. I felt that this is a decent signing. First, he has dual-nationality – Qatari and Ivorian. This allows me to play him without worrying about the foreign player limit. Next, his physicals are still decent thanks to his natural fitness. Lastly, he is suited to a deep-lying forward, which is part of our tactic.

Sadly, Bright Ejike, our supposedly number one striker, might be sold in the next transfer window. Let’s just see how our new signing fares in the first half of the season.

As mentioned, Ragoubi was sold because of his clause. It was not a bad sale as according to his history, he has never moved to another club with a fee. A profit is always a win for me.

He was our number one center-back , but his lackluster performances in the second division questioned his credentials. Ended up selling him to fellow promoted side Al-Shamal for 100 thousand British pounds.

Started off with a bang by beating recently relegated Al-Ahli(QAT) 6-1 before losing narrowly to two decent foreign sides.  This was followed with another big win against Bahraini side Budaiya. We finished up our friendlies with a loss, a draw and a win against ASPIRE.

I did play a few league matches just before the transfer window closed its doors.

What a start!

Could we maintain this form and  stay up with the big guys? Find out in the next post!

The database I used for this save is the  FM17 Megapack 200 Updates by claassen . The one in the link does have more nations to choose from than the one in the save.
