Onto the mundane part of my final season here in Kazakhstan: the Relegation Stage.
Goal: To avoid relegation as always.
And to keep things short, here’s how we did.
We pretty much secure survival with 5 games left to play but by then, our star striker, Patrick, decided to go into a rough patch of form (which actually cost us in the cup semi-final as well.). Hence, the two draws and the (embarrassing) loss to Kaisar.
From the final table, it just makes you wonder if I had qualified for the top half. Maybe the team would have a chance to go for European football next season.
With Patrick deciding not to score goals for us, the midfield had to step in but the defence suffered as a result.
The first leg was closer than I though, with goals coming from our “Assist” striker, Bogdanov and midfielder Danilov. The second leg was a whole another story though, as we conceded two set piece goals in a 4-1 thrashing. Oh well, looks like we have to wait for silverware in another country…
It was time for the annual season review. The fans were adamant (like me) that Patrick had proved to be a revelation at the club and voted him player of the season. Second was Sai, who put in consistent performances as an advanced playmaker. Bogdanov was third, as his vital assists pushed him into the starting 11.
Patrick also won goal of the season, signing of the season and young player of the season. Yup, he is basically the best signing that I have made in this save so far.
Final Update of Development Players
Alas, this is the last update for these players as I pack my suitcase and leave the country for good.
What a player he is. His value now stands at £140,000 and he is definitely going to get better. He was definitely meant to play in the advanced forward role as he rarely performs in the other forward role in my tactic (deep lying forward). 28 goals in 30 is a fantastic return for an unknown player from Nigeria. In fact, he was the top scorer in the league. I’m sure the big guns would sign him pretty soon after I leave. Sadly, he has still not been selected for the national team although the coach has been following him for some time.
This guy is also another rising prospect as he now fights for a spot with Anarbek and Balan. Made a few appearances for the Kazakhstan Under-21s as well.
He’s still only rated two stars, but I’m confident that he will be a great player for the club if the next manager plays him more! Just like Shalyshkin, he has made a few appearance for the under-21s.
And that’s that! It was time to move to our next stop: Mali!
The database I used for this save is the FM17 Megapack 210 Updates by claassen . The one in the link does have more nations to choose from than the one in the save.
